Description
De RUG is voornemens een vriesdroger aan te schaffen. Binnen Farmaceutische Technologie en Biofarmacie (FTB) wordt de vriesdroger voornamelijk gebruikt voor de stabilisatie van biofarmaceutica zoals therapeutische eiwitten, extracellular vesicles, vaccins waaronder mRNA solid lipid nanoparticles door ze te vriesdrogen in de aanwezigheid van stabiliserende hulpstoffen. Het onderzoek is zowel fundamenteel (dat wil zeggen dat we willen antwoord krijgen op de vraag waarom sommige hulpstoffen beter werken dan anderen) maar ook toepassingsgericht (verwerking van gedroogde en gestabiliseerde biofarmaceutica tot patiëntvriendelijke toedieningsvormen, zoals poeders voor inhalatie en pleisters voor transdermale afgifte). Daarnaast wordt de vriesdroger gebruikt voor de productie van vaste dispersies om de biologische beschikbaarheid van lipofiele geneesmiddelen te verbeteren.
