Bei dem Projekt geht es um die Weiterentwicklung und Verbesserung der freien Open-Source Proxy-Cache Software "Varnish-Cache". Sinn und Zweck der Forschungsleistung ist es, Web-Inhalte nicht nur effizient, kostengünstig und damit klimafreundlich auszuliefern, sondern auch wichtige Sicherheitsfunktionen wie Application Layer Gateways und Web Application Firewalls zu implementieren, ohne an proprietäre Umgebungen gebunden zu sein.
