Siseministeerium koos Häirekeskuse ja SMIT-iga on algatanud projekti „Uue põlvkonna 112: kaasaegne ligipääsetav hädaabiühendus kõigile“, millega analüüsitakse, testitakse ja piloteeritakse uute kanalite lahendusi, kontrollitakse nende rakendatavust (sh õiguslikku) ja turvalisust. Projekti teostaja leitakse Riigikantselei poolt kahe järjestikuse riigihankega, millest käesoleva hanke puhul on tegemist esimese etapiga.
