Description
Data on traffic and travel patterns is a necessary basis in road planning, town and urban development, toll money reviews and other investment decisions in and around the road network. In order to prepare good analyses in this respect and give a truthful picture of reality, it is necessary to collate data from several sources. The contracting authority currently has, among other things, counting equipment that measures the number of vehicles that pass certain points along the roads and travel habit data based on surveys. The purpose of having multiple overlapping data sources is two parts: 1. Different data sources supplement each other by giving different types of information or different levels of detail for each of their areas. 2. Several data sources make it possible to validate results where several sources say the same thing or highlight uncertainty where there is no consistency between the sources. Based on these purposes and the data sources that are already available, the contracting authority needs to procure data from GPS devices in vehicles or equivalent.
