Description

Oceans face numerous challenges, from plastic pollution to rising sea levels. It is a real challenge to find solutions to the various environmental problems. This can be done by mobilizing cities & communities close to water. This is the aim of the EU-funded BoSS project. The project work should result in several demonstration projects in different pilot regions and aquatic ecosystems in Portugal, Italy, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. The overall goal is to achieve a sustainable and inclusive transition, where image quality remains central and there is intensive cooperation with local communities. The pilots will provide examples of mission-oriented approaches that are impactful and measurable. The project will introduce an ecocentric narrative that is both cosmopolitan and rooted in nature-based solutions. In the Flemish-Dutch Delta area, the focus is on 2 sub-areas of the Scheldt-Rhine-Meuse Delta. Within the 'Delta Pilot', both the urban scale of Rotterdam and the rural area surrounding the urban area of ​​Antwerp, more specifically the Grenspark Groot Saeftinghe, are examined.
