Suomussalmen kunnalla on kaksi kappaletta hakelämpölaitoksia, jotka tuottavat kaukolämpöä Suomussalmen kunnan omistamiin kiinteistöihin hakkeen avulla. Hankinnassa tarkoituksena on puupolttoaineen toimittaminen alla mainituin ehdoin Ostajan lämpölaitoksille Karhulanvaaralle osoitteeseen Ståhlberginkuja 2, 89800 Suomussalmi kk ja Suomussalmen kirkonkylälle osoitteeseen Mannilantie 6, 89800 Suomussalmi kk. Hankinnassa vuosittainen rankahakkeen määrä on n. 5000 i-m³/vuosi
