Description
As a research and development service, the contract is excluded from the scope of public procurement law (cf. § 116(1)(2) GWB). Samba is the standard free and Open Source implementation of the Server Message Block (SMB) protocol allowing interoperability between machines running Windows with Linux and Unix. It offers servers that run Linux and Unix an interoperable interface in networks with mixed clients, running Windows, Linux and MacOS. Samba is also an important Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution and seamlessly integrates servers and desktops under Windows, Linux, Unix and MacOS into Active Directory environments. It can function both as a domain controller or as a regular domain member. Samba is part of all Linux distributions.
