Description
PEACEPLUS Nature is an ambitious 20.8 million Euro project that will bring together nine partners to tackle the decline in priority species and habitats across Northern Ireland and bordering counties. The project will work to restore lowland wet grassland and limestone grassland and priority species from breeding waders to Marsh Fritillary Butterfly, as well as support peatland restoration works. RSPB Northern Ireland intends to improve the habitat at key sites at Lough Erne for breeding wading birds, particularly curlew. Key to these improvements will be the cutting of rushes to make sites more appealing to waders while reducing predation risk. RSPB NI is now seeking tenders from interested contractors as part the project, delivering rush cutting across several sites within the Lough Erne area.
