Description

SBB AG aims to procure up to 40 multi-current high-speed trains for international passenger services under an operating lease in accordance with the definition of finance leasing as stipulated in Swiss GAAP FER 13 ‘Leases’. The vehicles are to be used in Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, England (London), Belgium and the Netherlands. This invitation to tender contains the required lease agreement with a basic term of 15 years. In addition, the procurement includes options as detailed below. In parallel with the invitation to tender for the operating lease agreement, SBB AG will be conducting an invitation to tender for a purchase agreement for up to 40 vehicles in the basic order quantity and a service agreement for their maintenance over a period of 15 years. This procedure is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2026. Following the award of the contract to the rolling stock manufacturer, the purchase agreement for the basic order quantity of up to 40 vehicles is intended to be transferred to the lessor. All option rights and the maintenance service agreement will remain with SBB AG and will not be transferred to the lessor.
