Description

The Secretary General is the public face of the AIB and is responsible for leading the AIB secretariat (HQ) in Brussels and giving direction and clarity to the organisation’s strategic and policy development. The Secretary General oversees the implementation of the organization's mission and goals, fostering collaboration, efficiency, and impact. Ultimately, the Secretary-General is instrumental in shaping the AIB's identity, success, and legacy. As appointed officer and legal representative, the Secretary General works full-time and independently for the AIB, under the guidance of the Executive Board, for a duration of at least 4 years. To avoid conflicts of interest, the AIB demands that the candidate will work for the AIB full-time and completely independently of all other interests. The Secretary General must be willing to adopt flexible working hours, and show initiative, personal commitment and motivation in support of the goals and activities of the AIB. The AIB secretariat has a staff of an average of 4 Fte, both employees and contractors (consultants). The Secretary-General leads the AIB staff.
