Genom upphandling av en samverkansentreprenad avser Malmö Stad uppföra nytt konstmuseum som ska förena den befintliga byggnaden med upp till 6 500 kvadratmeter nybyggnation för att skapa en sammanhängande och särpräglad helhet. Besöksupplevelsen ska utgöra en omsorgsfullt koreograferad och estetiskt tilltalande resa. Arkitekturen ska samspela med parken, kanalen och den omgivande staden samt erbjuda visuella kopplingar mellan interiör och exteriör.
