Der Landkreis Kulmbach ist Sachaufwandsträger des staatlichen Gesundheitsamts für den Landkreis Kulmbach als untere Gesundheitsbehörde. Um die im Zuge der Corona-Pandemie aufgedeckten Mängel in der Digitalisierung des öffentlichen Gesundheitswesens zu beheben, hat der Bund das umfangreiche Förderprogramm "Digitales Gesundheitsamt 2025" aufgelegt. Um Fördermittel aus diesem Förderprogramm hat sich der Landkreis Kulmbach beworben und einen Zuwendungsbescheid für Fördermittel erhalten.
