Mutalan koulu on 110 oppilaan koulu, jossa toimii myös 3-ryhmäinen päiväkoti. Rakennuksen lämmönlähteenä on tällä hetkellä öljy. Ylöjärvi on HINKU-kunta, ja öljylämmitys halutaan vaihtaa haketta tai pellettiä lämmönlähteenä käyttävään lämmöntuotantoon.
