Description
Ten behoeve van ILW transporten zullen zogenaamde Kreukelvaten (waarin het afval wordt geladen) geproduceerd en geleverd worden. De Kreukelvaten moeten aan hoge kwaliteitseisen voldoen. De Kreukelvaten worden in onbehandeld staal uitgevoerd. De Kreukelvaten worden in batches geleverd over een periode van ca. anderhalf jaar. NRG wil, door de beschikbare ruimte, geen vaten op hoeven slaan. Het Kreukelvat moet, nadat het is beladen met radioactief afval worden afgesloten met behulp van een deksel en in een ander vat geplaatst worden in de Waste Transfer Unit (WTU). Hiertoe is het deksel van het Kreukelvat voorzien van een open/sluitmechanisme bestaande een klemring dat middels inbus bout wordt aangedraaid. Omdat het openen en sluiten op afstand middels manipulator gedaan wordt en omdat het sluiten van het Kreukelvat essentieel is, worden hoge eisen gesteld aan de werking van het sluitingsmechanisme.
