Description
Helse Stavanger HF (Stavanger Health Trust) intends to enter into a contract with Kebomed AS for the upgrade of the current existing ultrasound system. The Urological Department at SUS currently uses BK-5000 ultrasound apparatus when carrying out transperineal biopsy of prostate cancer for suspicions of prostate cancer. To make the biopsyking more hit-proof, an upgrade to the BK-5000 must include a navigation system, so-called MRI ultrasound Fusion technology. The navigation system takes MR pictures into consideration when using ultrasound apparatuses in the biopsyking. The MR pictures are prefabricated by radiology as marks of suspenseous areas of prostate cancer. The navigation system has high sensitivity and makes it possible to carry out exact biopsies of relevant areas, based on the marked areas of the MR pictures, which leads to more accurate diagnostics. Reduction of the number of biopsies and more precise biopsy reduces the subsequent risk of complications. Kebomed AS, who is a dealer of BK ultrasound apparatuses, is the only company that can undertake such an upgrade of the company ́s existing BK5000 apparatus.
