Description

DSA has for many years had close cooperation with its sister organisation in Ukraine (SNRIU). After the Russian full-scale invasion in February 2022, this cooperation has intensified. The intensification began as a result of the government's obligations to assist Ukraine through civil and military support through the "Nansen program," which was started last year. Cooperation on nuclear security is a part of this programme. The objective of DSA's cooperation is, among other things, to strengthen the nuclear security authority in Ukraine's ability to reduce the risk of incidents and emissions as well as contribute to having a satisfactory stand-by system in place at a serious event in the nuclear installations. DSA ́s dialogue with SNRIU has stated a desire to provide a decision support tool, ARGOS (Accident Reporting and Guiding Operational System). There are approx. 16 countries in the ARGOS-consortium, including the Nordic nuclear preparedness authorities. ARGOS uses mission dispersion models that calculate radioactive environmental emissions in real or simulated weather data.
