Description

The work involves auditing existing smart policies across seven councils areas in the Central Border Region – listed below – to determine the region’s current “smart” trajectory, completing Digital Maturity Frameworks tailored to each Council to clarify the components of a smart place, and co-producing an Action-Oriented set of 3 Frameworks to embrace ICT solutions where they amplify the endogenous potential and quality of place, and enhance social and economic well-being. The learning and innovation generated will inform the production of ‘Learning Legacy’ resources that identify the opportunities and challenges for continuing to mobilise the area as a smart region. The goal is to select settlements at different scales, ranging from village to town, and possibly including twin settlements/cluster of settlements on a cross-border and functional geography basis, ensuring all settlements are below the 18,000 population threshold. The seven council areas are: • Donegal County Council • Sligo County Council • Leitrim County Council • Cavan County Council • Monaghan County Council • Mid Ulster Distinct • Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council
