Die Stadt Aachen beabsichtigt, den Straßenraum der Jülicher Straße im Bereich Lombardenstraße bis Ortseingang Haaren zu überplanen und zu sanieren. Es soll ein gesamtverkehrsplanerisches Konzept erarbeitet werden, das die Beschleunigung des Busverkehrs im Fokus hat und die anderen Verkehrsarten den öffentlichen Raum und Grünstrukturen berücksichtigt.
