Description

National Land Survey of Finland (NLS) is planning to purchase a large format airborne camera system for aerial photography, which optimally supports the current main use cases of NLS: large area 30 cm GSD imaging with 80 / 30% overlaps for ortho photo production and stereo mapping. Maximum flying height of NLS's own aircraft is 7500 m. NLS Finland is the leading party in the execution of the National Laser Scanning and Aerial Imaging program called KALLIO, in where Finland is being photographed with a three year’s rolling cycle. One of the main user domains for the image data is forest inventory services. In there, radiometric quality of the images is in pivotal role, especially in the NIR channel. As a general remark regarding the data policy in Finland we’d like to bring to your attention that image data with 30 cm GSD or more (≥ 30 cm) is open data. Smaller GSD data will require more strict data protection within production and data distribution. Currently NLS imaging production supports only open data.
