Description
Gjerdrum municipality has approx. 7,398 inhabitants and is located in Akershus County. The municipality received 15 refugees in 2022, 46 in 2023 and has agreed to accept 60 refugees in 2024. The municipality is obliged to provide an introduction program for all migrants in the target group, who reside in the municipality. The aim of this is to give participants basic skills in Norwegian, basic insight into Norwegian society and prepare them for work or education. Introduction laws also give the municipalities a legal framework in the integration work. Inhabitants who are in the target group for the scheme and who need basic qualification have the right and/or obligation to participate in the introduction programme, right and/or duty to Norwegian and social knowledge.
