Description

Each year, a large number of young people in Côte d'Ivoire seek access to the job market. However, lacking the right technical/professional skills, they do not find adequate employment and end up in the informal economy or remain unemployed. The project ambitions to mitigate the industrial companies' difficulties in recruiting qualified personnel with the right set of technical skills and professional competencies to meet their immediate employment needs. Moreover, it is important to note that in Côte d'Ivoire, private companies, particularly those in the agri-food sector, still rely heavily on the human factor. Although production lines are mechanized, they are not all automated and therefore require technicians with good basic knowledge of mechanics, welding or industrial electricity to keep production tools running. For this reason, and due to the inadequacy between vocational training and the machines/equipment used by private companies, most private companies are obliged to train their new employees themselves.
