Description
The project "Financing for Climate Action in Mexico, FINACC," financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, seeks to promote coordination mechanisms that provide certainty in the market to encourage public-private investments compatible with national climate change goals. The technical assistance focuses on developing, improving, and regulations in the financial system that mobilize effectively and congruently with the decarbonization route of climate finance through capacity building, innovative public-private mechanisms, and digital tools, prioritizing gender equity and just transition. It is a project of approximately three years (09/2022 - 09/2025). Implementing partners are the three government institutions: the Mexican Ministry of Finance (SHCP), the Mexican Central Bank (BANXICO), and the Mexican Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT).
