Description

Limiting global warming to 1.5°C will require rapid, far-reaching transformations across every sector. If we are serious about achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we will need more business and technology breakthrough innovations and we will need them at a speed, scale, and impact like never before. Climate ventures are well placed to make a difference in delivering climate action. They can, at limited risk to the economy, demonstrate the market feasibility of innovative, low-emission technologies and business models, and inject pace and ambition into private-sector mitigation efforts. Climate ventures can provide solutions that are currently neglected by markets ("breakthrough technologies") as well as improving upon products and services that are already available ("incremental technologies"). It is in this context that we have developed the concept of CATALI.5°T.
