Description

With its core thematic strategy 'Life without Hunger - Transformation of Agricultural and Food Systems', the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) aims to initiate a transformation of agricultural and food systems globally and in partner countries. The global project Sustainable Agricultural Systems and Policies (AgSys) (duration: 01/2024 to 12/2027) contributes to achieving this target. In line with the strategy, the aim is to transform agricultural systems so that they can guarantee supply with healthy and sufficient food to all people, taking into account planetary boundaries. Increasingly, it is recognized that, in addition to important individual measures, a transformation of agricultural and food systems is necessary. However, neither at the global level nor in most partner countries is there a common understanding of what transformation means in context, what the key levers are and how transformation can be concretely initiated or achieved.
