Description

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH implements the "Socio-Economic Inclusion of Extremely Poor Internally Displaced Persons and Residents of Host Communities, Puntland" (SEIPP) Project. SEIPP supports the Ministry of the Interior, Federal Affairs and Democratization (MoIFAD) and implementing NGO partners in increasing the social and economic resilience of extremely poor displaced persons and host communities in and around Garowe, the administrative capital of Puntland. SEIPP reaches a total of 700 participating households, which receive support through coaching and mentoring, as well as the preparation of livelihood roadmaps created individually with each household. Each roadmap consists of defined goals and milestones for the graduation of the household from (extreme) poverty. SEIPP disburses conditional cash transfers of USD 60 per month to beneficiary households for a minimum of nine months. Conditionally linked to the cash transfer, SEIPP supported households in establishing and running savings and loan groups (Village Saving and Loan Associations, VSLA).
