Description

Sludge management in Za'atari and Azraq Refugee Camp project (SMZA) is part of the program "Waste to Positive Energy, which aims at developing environmentally and more financially sustainable systems for integrated solid waste management and wastewater treatment at Za'atari Refugee Camp and neighboring communities. This project is jointly funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the EU Regional Trust Fund in Response to the Syrian Crisis (EUTF) and is implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in close coordination with the Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ). The Za'atari Refugee Camp is the largest refugee camp in the country, with more than 82,000 refugees, Za'atari refugee camp is located approximately 15km from Mafraq town and 60km from the city of Amman. The town of Mafraq is approximately 60 km from the Syrian border, while Za'atari Refugee Camp is within the confines of Za'atari village. The Camp is bound by the coordinates of 190750, 188000, and 273500,276750 Northing and Easting respectively in the Cassini projection on the Palestine_1923_Palestine_Grid datum.
